Apurwa Trivedi

I am a 3rd year PhD student at the Center of Immunology in Marseille under the supervision of Dr.Mauro Gaya. My project aims to decipher the roles played by MAIT cells upon pathogen encounters. Specifically, I study how a MAIT cell senses pathogenic breach and relays innate and adaptive responses. I obtained my Masters in Immunology and Biotherapies from the University of Pierre et Marie Curie (now Sorbonne University). During my Masters, I did 3 student exchanges abroad- Medical University of Sao Paulo (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Pasteur Institute (Rome, Italy), and Harvard University (Boston, USA). Ever since the beginning of my PhD life in Marseille, I have been constantly curious about the Unconventional T cells and their role in inflammation. I applied the experience I gained through all the internships and within one year was able to be involved in some collaborations within and outside the institute. Regarding my personal life, I come from a family of artists and take pride in being the only one who aspired to work in Science. Growing up in a multicultural country, I adapted very quickly when I had to move to different places. Always enthusiastic about meeting new people, expanding acquaintances, and constantly learning about new cultures.
